He may have been around for the last decade, sharing screen space with Jackie Chan, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn. But what fetched him the plum role in Billa 2 are his ‘intense eyes’ that appealed to director Chakri Toleti. Meet Bollywood baddie, Sudhanshu Pandey, who will soon be seen with superstar Ajith Kumar in this year’s most-awaited K-town flick.
“Chakri was looking for a guy with a lot of intensity in his eyes, for the powerful character of Abbasi who I play in the flick. After he saw my pictures on the Internet, he called me in person and the moment we met, he said he had found the right guy,” explains Sudhanshu, in a chat with DC.
About his role, he says, “I play a don, a wealthy man leading a debauched life with wine and women! I had to put on weight for this role. That is when I started looking lovingly at chocolates, milkshakes and spicy foods. Bruna Abdullah plays my muse in the film.”
About Ajith, Sudhanshu gushes, “Any star of his stature is likely to go off the ground and start living in a make-believe world. On the contrary, Ajith is genuinely a grounded person. Acting with him will benefit any actor, as he is such a helpful co-star.” Was he apprehensive about doing scenes where he was required to be harsh with Ajith? “Not really! I was focused on what I was supposed to do. Otherwise, I would not be able to complement Ajith’s great performance,” he chuckles.
Shifting gears to Ajith’s passion for cooking, Sudhanshu feels unfortunate for not being able to taste the Thala’s delicious biryani. “I did not get the opportunity to have Ajith’s food, although everyone was raving about his cooking. My only connection to Chennai now is Billa 2, and I hope to be here signing more Tamil films in the future,” he smiles.
