It looks like beauty queens and actors always go hand in hand. But fortunately only a few make it big. Nevertheless, Kerala girl Parvathy Omanakuttan seems to be slowly and steadily making her presence felt in the south film industry. Even though her debut film in Bollywood didn’t rank the moolah in the box office, the actor is all set to take the regional industries by a storm by taking up interesting offers.
A sample of this would be her debut film in Tamil, ‘Billa 2′, where she is paired opposite Ajith. The actor, who was supposed to make her debut in the industry with the film Uma Maheswaram opposite a newcomer, seemed to have gotten lucky with a film with Ajith. And the excitement just seems evident when she says, “I’ve been a huge fan of Ajith since the time I was in college. When I got the opportunity, I just didn’t want to let it go. I am excited about the release.”
Though the actor was nervous to act with the ace star, Parvathy is excited about the first scene that she canned opposite Ajith. “I was literally fumbling in the first scene. But Ajith was very patient with me and waited until I got my scenes correct. In fact, he put me on ease and helped me too,” she says. And it looks like the cooking skills of Ajith seemed to have impressed the actor too. “I’ve heard that he makes delicious biriyani. But I saw the proof of it only during the shoot of our film. He cooked mutton biriyani and needless to say, it was appetizing,” says Parvathy.
Prod her about having catfights with her co-star in the film, Bruna Abdullah and she laughs, “Catfights? Not too soon in my career!” She adds, “I’ve known Bruna through modelling assignments and we had a cordial relationship throughout. I even got along well with Vidyut on the sets as we already know through our modelling days. All the three of us shared a great rapport.”
Now that she is focusing her career in the south films, does she regret that her debut film in Bollywood didn’t do well at the BO? “I was very upset. The script was narrated in a different approach and the actual movie was made in a different style altogether. Though I heard that the film might see a re-release, I haven’t heard anything from the makers. Nevertheless, I’ve learnt my lessons,” says Parvathy.
Meanwhile, the Malayali girl is not happy with rumours doing the rounds that she is not too keen in Mollywood. “I really don’t know where these reports came from! I am very much keen to work in my native language. The industry is a powerhouse of talent and I am looking at signing films. In fact, ‘Billa 2′ has paved a way for interesting offers. I am hearing a couple of Malayalam scripts… I might soon finalize one,” she signs off.
